Brain Health Breakthrough CIC are pioneers in the field of long-COVID peer support and we understand how long-COVID affects employees.
Our staff have personally experienced long-COVID, and have received training in supporting others in their recovery.
“Employers should be aware that the effects of long-COVID can fluctuate. On some days the person might seem well, but on others their symptoms can be worse and they might need more support or additional time off work.” (ACAS February 2023)
We are able to offer ways for you to better support your workforce and improve the confidence and wellbeing of your employees as they return to work after illness.
We offer support for employees with staff who are experiencing long-COVID. Including;
Brain Health Breakthrough CIC has developed a proven holistic peer support provision for assisting those with long-COVID. This is based on an innovative social and community model.
We recently surveyed our groups and received some positive feedback! Including how participants are grateful for the service and that it’s ‘invaluable’, ‘brilliant’, ‘a lifeline’, and ‘the best thing ever’”.
Blackburn with Darwen Carers Service:
We ran specialised wellbeing and
self-care programmes, for 31 unpaid carers. Feedback from staff included:
“The programme was appropriate
to the very diverse needs of our
groups including older people,
Asian carers and single parents.
Their approach has been authentic
and really makes people feel at
ease.
I’d rather work with someone who
has real experience like Karen – she
has real understanding, empathy
and insight.”
Hyndburn Council:
We are a
Hyndburn COVID-19 Community
Champion. This is a Hyndburn
Borough Council initiative, to deliver a
range of initiatives to
enhance communications and
develop networks which will
support those disproportionally
affected by Covid.
Feedback included: “It is wonderful
to see this 12 week program
supporting those with long-COVID
helping those most in need in
Hyndburn. We are really happy to
support this work and collaborate
with BHB as their knowledge and
expert services are exactly what
our communities need at this
difficult time.”
Blackburn with Darwen Council:
We ran a long-COVID peer-support group ‘Train the Trainer’ course. Feedback from management included:
"I think it might be useful for us to provide feedback on how the sessions go in BWD, which would provide you with examples of how Train the Trainer supports organisations to set up their own"
Feedback from participants:
"The course has really helped raise my awareness of the impact of long covid on individuals and also the challenges they face, the help that is needed & how to effectively provide support."
"The impact of long-COVID from people who have lived experience, this has enriched the course."
"Really enjoyed the sessions."
